PAA 2012 Day 7 Kickoff

The warm and radiant sun was such a welcome way to end week 1. A much deserved reward for our group of truly outstanding riders.

When we all walked out of the hotel in Princeton this morning, we could hardly believe our eyes – the sun was just raging and the blue skies we’re beckoning us out onto the road. We were more than happy to oblige!

After weaving our way out of the city, we jammed on the gas and set a pretty monster pace over the next 75 miles of rolling farmland – covering the entire distance at an average speed in excess of 18 mph. As this was our last day with our ride partners on week 1, the mood was light and the conversations flowed steadily.

After arriving in Cherry Hill, NJ (just outside of Philadelphia) we got cleaned up, had our massages and then gathered around the grill for hamburgers, beers and bourbon. It was a great way to send off these new friends who I will forever hold near to my heart.

Tomorrow is a rest day for us, and there’s talk of some adventures into the city and some much needed chill time for those of us continuing on in week 2. Raleigh / Durham…here we come!

If you can help, I’m aiming to raise $15,000 before we arrive in Raleigh on the 13th of October, and could use your help! You can contribute by clicking on the “Donate Now” button in the widget on the homepage, or by visiting my fundraising page.

Ride on!
